About Kristopher

Bio

Glad to meet you! I'm Kristopher, a first-year Ph.D. student in Statistics at NC State University. I've informally tutored since I was in high school, but I officially started tutoring in 2022. I primarily do one-on-one lessons and drop-in tutoring. For those who like numbers, I earned a 1330 and 32 on the SAT and ACT, respectively, and attained a 3.72 GPA as an undergraduate studying Statistics and Industrial Engineering.

I specialize in mathematics and data science, including but not limited to Calculus (single and multivariable) and Statistics (including probability) as well as the coding languages of R, SAS, and Python. My goal is to turn students into independent learners, and my tutoring approach is very procedural, though I am flexible and always willing to adapt to students' needs. I first establish a baseline level of understanding with the student before teaching new content. Next, I try to gain some insight into relevant prior experience about a subject. I use this information to help decide where to start and how to pace lessons. From there, I work with the tutee to establish SMART Goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-Oriented) for our time together. I use SMART Goals because they replace vague statements such as "I want to get an A," or "I need to pass my final exam," by breaking goals down into actionable, achievable steps.

I stand out from other college-age and college-level tutors because I come from a background of education. Before focusing on Statistics, I was studying Math Education, so I have extensive knowledge on current education pedagogy and practices. Furthermore, math and coding are two of the most challenging subjects for learners, and I aim to assist and uplift my students so they have both the confidence and skills necessary to succeed. Feel free to reach out if you have further questions, or if you want to schedule a lesson!

Data Analysis

Data Analysis

B.S. in Statistics with experience in data analysis. Proficient in data visualization, numerical and graphical summaries, and descriptive and inferential statistics. Expert in R, intermediate in Python.
Data Science

Data Science

Graduate with a B.S. in Statistics, with training in regression analysis, statistical learning, and data science methods. Specifically, linear and nonlinear regression theory, methodology, and applications; supervised and unsupervised learning methods; deep learning and neural networks. Programming language of choice is R.
Machine Learning/ AI

Machine Learning/ AI

Currently a PhD Student in Statistics at a top-15 program. Taken coursework and completed individual and group projects utilizing machine learning: supervised and unsupervised learning methods, association rules, text analytics, and deep learning. Most comfortable in R, but can do Python as well.
Real Analysis

Real Analysis

Currently a Ph.D. student studying Statistics at a top-20 university. Taken and passed a standard undergraduate real analysis course covering the following: Real number system, functions and limits, topology on the real line, continuity, differential and integral calculus for functions of one variable. Infinite series, uniform convergence.
SAS

SAS

I am a Statistics Ph.D. student who has taken SAS programming courses as well as utilized SAS in courses such as experimental design, regression analysis, categorical data analysis, and more. I can teach Base SAS 9.4 as well as use SAS for statistical analysis.
UNIX

UNIX

Took a summer program in data engineering which focused on UNIX and SQL. Learned UNIX from the ground up and am comfortable with basic commands (e.g., "ls", "touch", creating aliases, etc.) and more advanced techniques like file creation and manipulation.

Amazing

Amazing tutor was incredibly articulate, demonstrating great patience while carefully explaining each concept in a step-by-step manner. This approach helped me grasp the material thoroughly and boosted my confidence in the subject matter using GitHub.

Awesome to work with!!!

Kris was very helpful in helping me achieve what I needed to and at the same time letting me develop an understanding of a new language. R is certainly very tough for someone who has never used it, but Kris helped me understand how complex it is and that becoming frustrated just isn't worth it. Very easy to talk to and patient and would recommend anyone needing help in R to work with Kris.

Helped me to understand all my assignments and I really recommend this tutor. He was always encouraging and patient since I take time to understand. Highly recommend.

Kris is an awesome Tutor for R and Analytics

Kris did an amazing job helping me learn analytics for a report I had due. He is very approachable and was able to adapt to my needs since the class I'm in is EXTREMELY detail oriented. I recommend him for anything!

Very helpful!

Kristopher was very helpful in explaining things, and clearly knows his stuff. He goes through everything very slowly to make sure you understand it. Really helped me out big time on my homework, and I now have a better understand of how t-tests and p-values work.

Knowledgable, patient, and kind tutor!

Kris helped me with an assignment that had to do with R. He helped walk me through every question I was struggling with and I came out of the lesson so much more comfortable about R. I Will book another tutoring session with him for the next assignment!

Willing to go the extra mile

I am very fortunate that Kristopher was there to help me at the 9th hour. He was able to jump in and help me complete the worked needed to finish my class. Knowledgeable and patient.

Informative

Session was good, would have been better if I were able to share my homework screen with him. Assignments didn’t open up in order for Kristopher to see the work that I needed help with.
