My name is Marcus J., and I am a 31year old male with a obscene passion for mathematics and science. I have been tutoring overall for 14 years for recreation, and for 8 years professionally. I have had an immense level of success with my students, and each student that I have tutored ended up getting no less than a B grade in their respective math and science courses.
I began my tutoring journey back in high school where I tutored a classmate in Chemistry. In college, I began to tutor a bit on the side. I tutored my brother in his elementary/middle classes, and I would tutor other middle and high school students as well in traditional math. I did not hold any professional tutoring positions while in college, due to rigorous coursework, and also due to the fact that I participated in club sports that required me to travel a lot, and to spend numerous hours in the gym.
After completing my Bachelor's of Science degree in Polymer and Color Chemistry from North Carolina State University, I took a position as a College Advisor where I was selected and placed in low performing high schools to help students excel academically, scholastically, and aiding in their career decision making progress. I gave classroom presentations on academic excellence, held one-on-one sessions, and I held group sessions pertaining to SAT Prep, College Applications, and Academic Tutoring.
My preference is one-on-one, in home tutoring. I thoroughly enjoy engaging with and challenging my students with rigorous math problems. I love to get them thinking critically and strategically, and I love applying real world examples so that they can understand why it is important to be proficient in math.
