Kris M.

I am a college professor and an award-winning teacher with 15 years of teaching experience at the college level. I have a PhD in Sociology and I am an accomplished researcher, writer, and teacher. What I love most about teaching is helping students understand social and cultural issues, while also growing their skills as writers and thinkers. I am the product of inspiring and engaging teaching and enjoy passing that on to others.

I enjoy helping students meet and exceed their academic goals and to apply what they learn to life outside the classroom. As a professor I get to teach classrooms of 20+ students but I also enjoy the one-on-one work with students in a tutoring setting. I had a tutor when I was in highs school and it made all the difference for me in helping me build the confidence and skills I needed to succeed.

I am a published writer, including research papers, blogs, and book chapters. I also have editing and publishing experience for academic and public audiences. I have given over 50 public talks, ranging from conference presentations to panel discussions, to radio and television interviews. Writing, teaching, and public speaking are my passions and I enjoy helping others learn these important skills.

I have a PhD in Sociology and I teach classes on U.S. society, the criminal justice system, social problems, U.S. history and culture, and documentary film making.

Learning is fun, when you have the right guidance and support. As an experienced and skilled teacher, I work with students to help them meet and exceed their academic goals. My college students say that my enthusiasm for teaching and learning motivates them to succeed.
