As a foreigner, I know exactly how the language learning process works and can deliver my knowledge in a clear and accessible manner. In addition to language skills, my students can expect to gain cultural knowledge, i.e. movies, literature, music, and traditions.

Why do most of us want to learn a language? Probably because we want to communicate with other people in it.

We often teach language through a set of grammar rules and vocabulary lists you need to recite with a teacher.

How effective is this teaching? My answer is not very much. I've been learning English for 12 years, through my middle school, high school, and college years. It became meaningful only when I started communicating.

Think about how you learned to communicate in your native language. We spoke our language a few years before we open a book to learn how to read or do any grammar exercises. We use the language every day, this is how we become knowledgeable in it and able to communicate easily.

How would you learn a new language? By reciting grammar rules one by one? Or maybe through communicating, learning language naturally as you go? Two different options, which would you choose?

I know and use different methods of teaching depending on the abilities and interests of my students, but the basic and the most efficient methods which I apply are Language Immersion and Communicative Approach.

If you are interested in learning the Russian language, getting ready for the Defense Language Proficiency Test, Oral Proficiency Interview, or job interview contact me and I will be happy to help you achieve your goals.

I am a patient, dedicated, and experienced teacher. My professional experience includes teaching Russian and ESL for about 20 years in Russia and in the USA.

For the past two years, I have been tutoring the Russian language private lessons online on the Wyzant platform. My students are people of diffe

I was born and raised in Russia. I started learning English in middle school, then through high school, and my University years. I have taken and passed the Spoken and Written English test required for entry into the Ph.D. program in Biology. Prior to moving to the United States, I taught English to elementary and middle school students. Here in the United States I have taken and passed a complete ESL course at Wake Tech Community College and then a Formal Writing class at North Carolina State University.

Best session ever!

Learning Russian is a psychological risk because there always the possibility of mental failure. It was necessary to establish a conversational rapport and an operational tempo with Larissa. When I got better speaking Russian, then she was able to add relevant corrections. I feel good because I am not failing with the Russian language. Larissa is there to help me focus on my goals. If you can take the risk, then she is your teacher.

Best Lesson!

If you put in the work to study the language, then a lesson with L is dynamic and strong. She is Russian native blood, so one must fall into step with her outlook. I have more dexterity with Russian after four lessons with her. The key is...I needed to put in the work. Then lesson crystalizes into something special.

Patient and fun tutor.

She was easily able to adapt to my level. She gave me an opportunity to ask my questions and her answers were quick and easy to comprehend. She has a sense of humor which is refreshing. Very enjoyable. Already looking forward to next week.

Patient Smart Rock n Roll

She is a high energy tutor with a friendly smile and a patient disposition. I learned a lot of grammar during our lesson. I have a better understanding of Russian declensions.

Larisa is a great, knowledgeable and responsive tutor.

I am preparing for a return to Russian-English interpreting work in Russia and am working with Larisa to practice Russian language speaking and to work specifically on vocabulary and phrases related to my new anticipated work. Larisa continues to challenge me and has provided resources I can use to prepare myself during my time in between lessons. I am fortunate to work with such a qualified and talented tutor.

Wonderful, Effective and Fun Teacher

As a 60-year-old native English speaker starting from absolute zero prior Russian experience, I am probably not the most likely candidate to learn a new language. I was motivated to try in anticipation of a vacation in Russia. Larisa has been wonderful, a far cry from the language teachers of my youth. The lessons are always fresh, engaging and we have a lot of fun. In our lessons, Larisa makes full use of books, videos, songs, and worksheets. She went above and beyond, sending me screen shots of ATMs during her own vacation in Moscow. After returning from my Russian vacation we have expanded into Russian TV shows and film - the most fun homework I've ever had. I cannot speak highly enough of Larisa.

Wonderful Russian Lesson!

We learned rudimentary numbers, phrases and pronunciation as well as basic grammatical structure. It was the second lesson so I am beginning to assimilate, but have much work to do! Completely satisfied!
