Bio

My name is Jorden and I graduated from Brandeis University in May 2017. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology, with accompanying minors in Chemistry and Computer Science. During my time at Brandeis I worked as a Teaching Assistant for an advanced computer science class. It was through this experience that I realized that I rather enjoyed teaching others about the knowledge that I had gained through my classes and experiences. My name is Jorden and I graduated from Brandeis University in May 2017. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology, with accompanying minors in Chemistry and Computer Science. During my time at Brandeis I worked as a Teaching Assistant for an advanced computer science class. It was through this experience that I realized that I rather enjoyed teaching others about the knowledge that I had gained through my classes and experiences. After graduating from Brandeis I worked as a Research technician through which I was exposed to cutting edge biological concepts and applications. For the last couple years, I have been working at Harvard Medical School in the Genetics Department researching previously unknown genes and their functions.

I have since moved on from Harvard Medical School and am now pursuing a PhD in Bioinformatics at NCSU.

I really enjoy helping students learn and develop an appreciation for material that they are learning. I am very friendly so please don't hesitate to contact me to learn more or to schedule lessons!

I have been playing basketball for over 10 years. I additionally played basketball for my high school and was on numerous travel teams. I have a great measure of experience as a power forward however I was versatile and played as a guard as well when the situation demanded it.

As part of my computer science education, I took a course in C in which I generated numerous programs in the language. The largest program consisted of solving a program in which memory had to be dynamically allocated and reclaimed in order for it to function. As a result I learned the intricate facets of the language and how it operates.

I received a computer science education at Brandeis University. I was exposed to numerous programming languages and concepts in my education including java, C, python, and ruby. I also took more theory based classes that help create faster, more efficient programs such as Data Structures, and computational linguistics.

I received a BS in biology from Brandeis University and I as part of that education I took numerous genetic courses. Additionally I am now currently conducting research into the genetic causes of autism.

I took graduate level classes in computer science in which python was the programming language. The most advanced class was Computation linguistics in which we generated cutting edge computation models in python to parse and analyze linguistic data. As part of the course I created bigram and n-gram models as well as hidden Markov models to analyze the given data.

I created a comprehensive web application as part of a graduate level class that utilized ruby and more specifically Ruby on Rails framework. The application has a payment system, real time chat, as well as geolocation, to name a few aspects. This application used the most intricate aspects of ruby on rails including ruby, CSS, HTMl, and javascript. As a result I was forced to learn each language in depth in order to pass and store data in between languages.

I have been writing code for about 6 years now and I have been dealing with SAS for a year of that. I first took courses involving the statistics sides of SAS and then I moved on and learned about the data visualization capabilities that SAS has. I am proficient and adept at utilizing SAS and the SAS studio interface.

Jordon helped me through a lab excercise that focuses on creating a dice game and utilizing for and while statements. Applying command assignments to record the number a specified number is addressed and also removing a specified number from the generated list. He also taught some basic principles needed for me to understand the lab and is understanding for new learners. Highly recommend.
