Hi! I'm Rachel Simon, a journalist and author whose work has appeared in The New York Times, The Cut, Glamour, Vice, and many more outlets. A former editor at Bustle and Mic, my debut book, Pickleball for All: Everything But the "Kitchen" Sink was published by HarperCollins in 2022. I teach creative writing with Redbud Writing Project and Gotham Writers Workshop, helping students of all age levels tell their stories and learn valuable skills like honing their voices and using description in their work. I do both small-group teaching and 1:1 consulting, and have 8+ years of teaching experience overall. A New York native, I earned a B.A in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College and now live in Raleigh, NC.
I've always been passionate about reading and writing, and want to share that enthusiasm with students. Whether it's tutoring a 10th grader for an upcoming English exam or helping a senior with his/her college essay, I hope to not only help my tutees with their assignments, but share with them my love of the subjects.
