K-12 Math and Music Tutor

Hey, I’m Matthew! I am currently a student at South Eastern Free Will Baptist College. I am studying Pastoral Theology and Music. I graduated high school (in GA, I know, far away!) with a 4.1 GPA. I have always possessed a huge passion for music and for math.

Throughout my years of school K-12, math has always come easy to me. My brain seems to find it easy to find patterns in numbers and their relationship to one another. Because of this, math followed me, throughout these developmental years, as my favorite core subject. I also find it such a blessing to teach math. I have experience tutoring math on the college level. Finding the best way to explain a concept to a student, quiz a student, and see a student improve excites me.

I have 7 years of experience playing trumpet (playing in a band). And I have 3.5 years of experience singing (solo and choir). My proficiencies are in voice and music theory. I have helped people understand musical concepts since learning music in middle school. I enjoy breaking down rhythms, musical notation, chords, and teaching how to sight-sing. Above all, I love teaching music. Music can seem like an abstract fog, sometimes too daunting to grasp. However, people only need an attentive, patient, kind, enthusiastic, and gracious teacher to help them. Anyone can learn the basics of music no matter how young or how old!

I’m great with all age groups! Before the degree I am pursuing now, I originally pursued a music education degree (to teach little ones). So, I really do have a passion to teach from K-12!
