I have more than three years of professional tutoring experience in math and economics, working with undergraduate students through East Carolina University's Pirate Academic Success Center. I hold a B.S. in Applied Economics and an M.S. in Quantitative Economics/Econometrics from ECU.

From January 2023 through my graduation in May 2026, I worked with students in one-on-one sessions, small groups, recurring appointments, exam preparation, drop-in tutoring, and online sessions. My primary tutoring areas included microeconomics, macroeconomics, college algebra, statistics, quantitative problem solving, graphs, formulas, and Excel- or calculator-based coursework. After completing all three levels of CRLA tutor certification, I also served as a shadowing resource for new tutors as part of their training and development.

My tutoring style focuses on understanding rather than memorizing an answer. I like to break difficult problems into manageable steps, identify exactly where a student is getting stuck, and explain the reasoning behind each step. I often use practical examples to make abstract economic or mathematical concepts easier to understand, adjusting my explanations based on the student's experience and learning style. My goal is for students to leave a session not only knowing how to solve the problem in front of them, but also feeling more confident approaching similar problems independently.

Approved Subjects

Econometrics

Econometrics

I hold an M.S. in Quantitative Economics/Econometrics from East Carolina University, where I completed graduate coursework in Econometrics I and II, regression analysis, forecasting, and quantitative methods. My graduate research included an event-study analysis using panel data and fixed-effects models, as well as a time-series forecasting project comparing autoregressive models and evaluating forecast performance. I have also worked with R, SAS, and Python through graduate coursework and research. With more than three years of professional tutoring experience in math and economics, I focus on breaking quantitative concepts into manageable steps and helping students understand both how a method works and how to interpret the results.
Macroeconomics

Macroeconomics

I have more than three years of professional experience tutoring undergraduate students in macroeconomics through East Carolina University's Pirate Academic Success Center. I help students understand topics such as GDP, inflation, unemployment, fiscal and monetary policy, aggregate demand and supply, economic growth, and the relationships shown in macroeconomic graphs and models. I focus on connecting formulas and models to the economic intuition behind them so students can understand what changes, why it changes, and how to work through related problems. I also help students prepare for exams by identifying weak areas and practicing how to apply concepts independently.
Microeconomics

Microeconomics

I have more than three years of professional experience tutoring undergraduate students in microeconomics through East Carolina University's Pirate Academic Success Center. I help students understand topics such as supply and demand, elasticity, consumer and producer behavior, market structures, and especially cost curves, cost formulas, and related graphs. I focus on connecting the mathematics, graphs, and economic intuition behind each concept so students understand why relationships work rather than simply memorizing formulas. I also help students prepare for exams and develop a repeatable approach for working through unfamiliar microeconomics problems independently.
Probability

Probability

I have more than three years of professional experience helping undergraduate students work through quantitative problems and build stronger problem-solving skills. I can help with introductory probability topics such as basic probability rules, odds, independent and dependent events, combinations and permutations, conditional probability, and common problems involving cards, dice, coins, and other scenarios. I focus on helping students recognize what a problem is asking, determine which approach to use, and work through the calculation step by step. My goal is to make probability feel logical and approachable rather than like a collection of formulas to memorize.
Statistics

Statistics

I have more than three years of professional experience tutoring undergraduate students in statistics and quantitative coursework through East Carolina University's Pirate Academic Success Center. I can help students with descriptive statistics, normal distributions, z- and t-statistics, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, sampling methods, correlation, regression, and interpreting statistical results. My graduate training in quantitative economics and econometrics has given me additional experience applying statistical methods through research and data analysis. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind statistical methods, choose the appropriate approach for a problem, and interpret what their results actually mean.
