I am a North Carolina licensed mathematics teacher certified to teach grades 9–12 with both an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Mathematics Education as well as a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education. In addition, I hold an extra certification that allows me to teach college-level mathematics courses. Since 2019, I have taught a variety of high school math courses including standard and honors-level Math 3, standard and honors-level Math 4, and AP Precalculus. My classroom teaching experience has included classes ranging from approximately 15 to 35 students with varying academic backgrounds, learning styles, and support needs.
Before becoming a high school teacher, I worked as a college mathematics tutor through my university while completing my degree programs. In that role, I provided one-on-one and small-group tutoring support for students in multiple college-level math courses. Across both classroom teaching and tutoring settings, I have experience helping students strengthen foundational math skills, improve problem-solving abilities, prepare for quizzes and exams, and build confidence in advanced coursework.
As a classroom teacher, I have consistently exceeded state performance growth expectations in Math 3, which is a North Carolina state-tested course. My experience teaching both standard and honors-level students has helped me develop the ability to explain mathematical concepts in multiple ways and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs.
My tutoring approach focuses on building conceptual understanding while also helping students become more confident and independent learners. I believe students learn math most effectively when they actively work through problems step-by-step instead of only memorizing procedures. During tutoring sessions, I identify gaps in understanding, reinforce prerequisite skills when needed, and tailor instruction to each student’s goals and learning style.
