Hello! My name is Amiya Bryant and I'm an Alumni of NC State University (Go Pack!) I am an Orton-Gillingham based literacy tutor who is fully knowledgeable on the Science of Reading and phonetic and phonemic awareness. I have over 5 years of experience working with students ages 6-14 who might be struggling with dyslexia or any other reading challenges. I have taught small groups, one on one, and in a classroom setting. I currently work for a nonprofit in Durham that specializes in teaching early literacy skills to students in Title I schools who can't afford traditional tutoring costs.
I am also well versed in the Wilson reading method and I have experience as a Behavior Technician, working with children on the spectrum. My passion is truly helping younger students to realize their potential and to become the best versions of themselves they can be! Reading is a fundamental right that every child should have access to. I am fairly involved in the public and private school systems as well, so I know what literacy initiatives and interventions that a variety of schools around North Carolina use. I hope to get to work with you soon and I'm excited to see the progress we will make working together!
