I am a high school special education teacher with a master’s degree in special education with a focus on Emotional and Behavioral Disorders. Over the past several years, I have worked with adolescents who require significant academic and emotional support, and I have developed a deep understanding of how to break learning down in ways that are meaningful, accessible, and encouraging. My background allows me to tutor all core subjects for students in lower elementary through middle school, with a strong emphasis on reading, writing, math foundations, organization, and study skills.

My teaching experience is primarily in self-contained and small-group classroom settings, where I support students who are performing well below grade level due to learning gaps, emotional needs, or school-related trauma. I use a trauma-informed, student-centered approach that focuses on building trust, consistency, and confidence before expecting academic growth. I have seen firsthand how quickly students can shut down when they feel overwhelmed, so I take time to understand how each student learns best and tailor every session to meet their needs.

I have also worked one-on-one with students who struggle with motivation, attention, and self-esteem, helping them not only complete assignments but truly understand the material. Families appreciate that I focus on both academic progress and emotional well-being, because lasting success happens when students feel safe, capable, and supported. My goal as a tutor is to meet students where they are, help them rebuild their foundation, and remind them that they are capable of far more than they believe.
