I hold an undergraduate degree in Biosystems Engineering from Auburn University and recently completed my PhD in Biological and Agricultural Engineering at North Carolina State University with a GPA of 3.97. I have previous experience at the Wade Edwards Learning Lab as a one-on-one volunteer tutor for highschool students in subjects including pre-calculus, environmental science, and American history. During graduate school my favorite work involved my mentoring of an undergraduate research assistant in our laboratory. I took great pride in being able to teach her about complicated subjects and empowering her to carry out experiments in the lab. I have also recently gained classroom experience lecturing to undergraduate students in Engineering courses at North Carolina State University which has confirmed my passion for teaching.

Throughout my academic and teaching experience, I have gained insight into different teaching methods that have allowed me to learn and grow. In particular, I have found that my best experiences have been with teachers and professors who provide a comfortable setting for students to ask and answer questions. The more discussion that is involved in the teaching process, the more information that students retain. If given the opportunity to tutor a student, I would strive to make them comfortable with asking questions, answering questions, and providing reasoning behind their answers. I understand the impact that a high-quality and caring teacher can have on the trajectory of a student's life and I hope to be able to fill this role for my students.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

My qualifications for tutoring Algebra 1 include a Ph.D. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Biosystems Engineering, both of which required rigorous quantitative analysis and a deep foundation in mathematics, including algebraic principles. My doctoral research required advanced proficiency in solving multi-variable problems and applying mathematical principles to real-world systems. Through my engineering and research experience, I have developed a strong aptitude for breaking down complex quantitative problems into manageable steps, making me well-equipped to teach fundamental algebraic concepts.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

My qualifications for tutoring Algebra 2 include a Ph.D. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Biosystems Engineering, both of which required rigorous quantitative analysis and a deep foundation in mathematics, including algebraic principles.
Environmental Science

Environmental Science

I received my PhD in Biological and Agricultural Engineering in 2025. During my time in graduate school I researched multiple different carbon removal pathways. I am co-inventor on two patents for climate technologies, and have three first author publications from my research.
Literature

Literature

My academic background and passion for reading, highlighted by a Ph.D. in Engineering and success in advanced AP high school Literature courses, demonstrates ability in critical analysis and written communication. Excelling in a rigorous doctoral program required me to interpret dense, complex materials, synthesize large volumes of information into coherent arguments, and communicate findings clearly through a dissertation and several peer-reviewed scientific publications. These skills—focused reading, textual deconstruction, and compelling argumentation—are directly applicable to understanding and excelling in literary analysis and essay writing.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

My qualifications for tutoring Prealgebra include a Ph.D. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Biosystems Engineering, both of which required rigorous quantitative analysis and a deep foundation in mathematics, including algebraic principles. My doctoral research required advanced proficiency in solving multi-variable problems and applying mathematical principles to real-world systems. Through my engineering and research experience, I have developed a strong aptitude for breaking down complex quantitative problems into manageable steps, making me well-equipped to teach fundamental pre-algebraic concepts.
