Hi! I’m Siobhan (pronounced Shiv-on). I graduated summa cum laude with dual Bachelor's degrees in Computer Science and Economics. My love for tutoring started as early as fifth grade, when I often found myself explaining math concepts to classmates who needed a little extra help. That early passion for teaching stuck with me, and over the years it evolved into a consistent part of my academic and professional life. Math has always been my favorite subject, and I genuinely enjoy helping others feel more confident and capable in it.
Over the years, I’ve tutored a wide range of students—from kindergarteners just beginning to understand numbers, to college students navigating advanced calculus. In high school, I worked one-on-one with K–5 students on arithmetic and pre-algebra. During college, I tutored K–12 students in topics ranging from counting to calculus, and I regularly supported peers with college-level math like Calculus I–III, linear algebra, and physics. After graduation, I continued to volunteer as a math tutor for ESL students in grades 5–12, both in one-on-one and small group formats. These experiences have helped me become adaptable, patient, and skilled at meeting students where they are in their learning journey.
My teaching philosophy is built around creating a safe and open space for questions. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable expressing their understanding—no matter where they’re starting from. By listening closely and encouraging dialogue, I’m able to tailor lessons to each student’s learning style and needs. Whether a student is struggling, looking to catch up, or wants to move ahead, my goal is to make math feel less intimidating and more accessible. I love helping students build both skills and confidence that will support them far beyond the classroom.
