With a wide range of Teaching, Tutoring, and Administrative experience, I believe I am highIy qualified to be an independent tutor on Wyzant. I have experience as an Assistant 3rd Grade Teacher, Full-Time Principles of Business High School Teacher, Full-Time High School Marketing Teacher, a Dean of Middle School, and a Full- Time 7th Grade English Language Arts Teacher.

As an English Language arts Teacher, I was name the Clayton Chamber of Commerce Super Star Teacher for April 2025, held the position as Eastern NC's Content Lead, and led a cohort to 70% EOG Test Proficiency in the 2023-2024 school year. For 3 of 4 of my ELA Teaching years, I conducted tutoring and small groups through my Charter School company.

My systems and processes for tutoring were extensive as my administration require proof of processes. I have kept many of those methods in my own tutoring business. To explain simply, I analyze assessments to find where students' weak points are, re-teach the skills, and informally assess their understanding of the re-teaching, using a medium that collects clear data (Google Forms, etc.). If students are still struggling, I modify content (ex. lexile difficulty) while using the same skill, then ease them back to grade level content. Aside from that, I also assess work that students are currently struggling on by identifying skills and gradually unpacking them by using anchor charts, media, visual aids, and more.

Lastly, a huge reason I have been successful in ensuring all of my cohorts are proficient by NC's standards is my dedication to enrichment. Enriching students who are already on or above grade level is key because no one truly has a limit of how much they can learn. I increase lexile difficulty in passages for "high flying" students to give them vocabulary, literary, and informational challenges that they would not find in a grade level passage.

Though I am limited in word usage, I believe I have provided sufficient evidence for how and why I am able to tutor in ELA & Business.

Basketball

Basketball

I have played basketball from 6 years old to seventeen years old. Basketball was my main focus in my adolescence and I would love to share my expertise with those who are eager to learn. Ending my high school career at a college and NBA-producing program has given me experience and qualifications to assist in the needs of rising guards.
Business

Business

I obtained my marketing degree from ECU's School of Business in the year of 2018. Since then, I have taught a high school Principles of Business class, a high school Marketing class, and owned a few businesses. Nothing grants expertise like the school of life!
Creative Writing

Creative Writing

I have spent 4 years teaching English Language Arts and each cohort has risen above the state of NC's proficiency mark. My favorite form of writing is creative writing. I am a poet/spoken word artist myself, and am happy to assist in any creative writing needs.
Marketing

Public Speaking

Public Speaking

As a Spoken word artist, I have performed in ECU's auditoriums. Preparing for them consisted of memorization, managing nerves, breathing techniques, and confidence building exercises. Speaking infront of 500-1000 students is a true art, whether in the form of poetry or formal speaking. I have used the same techniques learned in ECU's School of business in both settings.
