As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in North Carolina, I bring a strong foundation in psychology and counseling-related subjects, including abnormal psychology, counseling theory, research writing, and exam preparation. I have successfully passed both the NCE (National Counselor Examination) and CPCE (Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination), and I’m passionate about helping others do the same.

I have experience tutoring through the National Honor Society (NHS) and public school teaching. I supported students with a wide range of academic needs, including ADHD and executive functioning challenges. My background in disability services at my graduate university helped me develop a personalized approach to study strategies, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to succeed.

In addition to my expertise in psychology and counseling, I offer beginner-level tutoring in general music, piano, guitar, and music theory. With 20 years of violin experience and a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy, I help students grow their musical skills in a way that is structured, supportive, and fun. My teaching is rooted in understanding each student’s unique learning style and providing practical guidance to build confidence and long-term success.

College Counseling

College Counseling

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have completed graduate coursework in career counseling. I’ve supported peers in navigating career pathways and preparing for graduate school interviews, including those applying to counseling programs. As a former graduate assistant in Disability Services at Campbell University, I helped college students receive appropriate academic accommodations. My approach is supportive, informed, and grounded in firsthand experience with college systems and student success.
General Music

General Music

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy and am a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC). I have experience teaching general music concepts to children, adolescents, and adults in private practice settings. My instruction includes music theory, history, ear training, and creative expression. I adapt each lesson to match the learner’s goals, interests, and preferred learning style.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

I’ve gained valuable experience being on the interviewer side for counseling students at my graduate university, giving me insight into what academic programs look for during the interview process. Additionally, I’ve developed a lot of interview experience myself, having applied for graduate school, music therapy internships, and CMHC internships. I can help you feel confident and prepared for your own interviews by sharing tips on what interviewers are really looking for, how to craft strong responses, and how to present yourself effectively. Together, we’ll tailor your approach to highlight your strengths and build your confidence, no matter what type of interview you’re preparing for.
Social Work

Social Work

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with graduate coursework in ethics, human development, multicultural support, and career counseling—all key components of social work education. I’ve supported individuals across the lifespan through private practice, disability services, and academic advising roles. My approach emphasizes client advocacy, effective communication, and strengths-based support. I’m especially helpful for students looking to strengthen foundational skills in counseling-related social work topics.
Sociology

Sociology

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, which included extensive study in human behavior, cultural systems, and social influences on mental health. My academic and professional background has given me a solid foundation in key sociological concepts such as social structures, inequality, group behavior, and identity development. I’ve worked with diverse populations in educational and mental health settings, allowing me to bring real-world context to sociological theory. I'm passionate about helping students connect abstract ideas to everyday life.
Study Skills

Study Skills

As a graduate assistant for Disability Services, I’ve worked with students across a wide range of IEP requirements, providing support tailored to their unique needs. My background in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) has equipped me with a deep understanding of executive functioning challenges, including ADHD, and how these impact study skills. Through my own experience, including passing the NCE, CPCE, and MT-BC exams, I’ve learned and applied effective study strategies that I now share with others. I focus on personalized, goal-driven approaches to help students build better study habits and improve academic success.
Violin

Violin

I have been playing violin for over 20 years, beginning private lessons at age 5 with a concertmaster affiliated with Lawrence University. Violin was my primary instrument during my Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy, where I received advanced private instruction and performance training. I’ve taught violin to children and teens in private practice settings, focusing on technique, musicality, and confidence-building. I love helping students of all ages grow both in skill and enjoyment of the instrument.

Grace is the best!

I was looking for the most affordable yet effective tutoring to prepare for the CPCE. I was honestly scared to start tutoring because I was afraid of being judged or not knowing enough. But from the very beginning, Grace made me feel completely comfortable and supported. As someone with ADHD and a lot of anxiety around test-taking, I really needed that. Tutoring with Grace not only boosted my motivation to study, but also helped me mentally prepare for test day. Our sessions were informative, encouraging, and genuinely fun! I’ll definitely be reaching out to Grace again when it’s time for my licensing exam. I love her!!!

CPCE

Grace is absolutely amazing! I was struggling to pass the CPCE after my first attempt but after working with Grace, I felt more confident about my second attempt. I will 100% be using her in the future for NCE and licensure!!!

kind and organized

Grace established rapport right away, making me feel encouraged and supported. She was well-organized and shared relevant resources, we also practiced test questions until I had difficult concepts well-understood. She was patient, professional and has a great sense of humor which really helps with stress management. Highly recommended!

Awesome tutor, highly recommend!

I truly couldn’t recommend Grace more! With her help, I significantly raised my score on the CPCE during my second attempt and felt much more confident answering the questions this time around. I wish I had found her sooner, for my first attempt at the CPCE. Grace was incredibly kind and supportive, even providing me with coping strategies to manage my test anxiety. She genuinely cares about her students’ success and well-being. Her study materials are not only thorough and high-quality but also tailored to meet each student’s individual needs. Grace goes out of her way to accommodate busy schedules for tutoring and studying. I honestly couldn’t have done it without her!

Megan, thank you so much for your kind words. I’m incredibly proud of all the hard work you put in and how much progress you made. It means so much to hear that our sessions helped boost your confidence. You were a joy to work with, and I’m so excited for what’s ahead for you.

Awesome tutor, highly recommend!

Grace gives lots of resources, visuals, and easy to remember explanations for anything I am struggling to retain. She breaks down the CPCE content for me in ways that I am easily able to refer back to, to help me with practice questions. I have learned way more from her than I did trying to study on my own. I highly recommend tutoring with Grace!

A Truly Amazing Music Tutor!!

Although Grace is no doubt an oustanding Psychology/Counseling Tutor, she was able to help my son fully understand music theory. She was patient and thoughtful and guided him through the process so he could fully understand the subject. She is truly an amazing person and we couldn't recommend her more highly!!
