With over 2 years of industry experience as an electrical engineer, I am passionate about helping students unlock their potential in STEM fields. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University (2021) and in my day job I specialize in circuit design and embedded firmware.
I find great joy in guiding students to those “aha!” moments when a concept finally clicks. I believe learning works best as a collaborative effort, with tutors asking questions and working interactively to meet each student's needs. STEM fields are difficult, and require perseverance through difficult tools and concepts. Guiding students through this journey to final understanding is what motivates me as a tutor. I'm a believer that engineering is about aqcuiring the tools you need to create things you love, and that feeling of accomplishment is what makes the process worthwhile.
While project-based, hands-on learning can be highly effective, I am just as eager to work within existing curricula as a tutor. My priority is helping each individual grasp concepts at their own pace by building confidence and demystifying challenges. I had the opportunity to teach a college-level 3D Printing course, developing my own curriculum where I focussed on practical projects rather than tests. This experience reinforced my belief that relevant, interactive lessons inspire greater participation and accomplishments.
By tutoring part-time in addition to my full-time engineering role, I'm on my own journey of constant improvement and learning while also following my passion for guiding others on their educational journeys. Blending my hands-on work as an engineer with mentoring the next generation of STEM students is rewarding on both a professional and personal level.
