Hi, I'm Ross! I graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina State University in Fall 2021 with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology and a minor in Psychology. In the fall I start medical school at UNC School of Medicine and I have been working as an EMT in Raleigh in preparation since graduation. During college I had the pleasure to work for Juntos through NC State for an academic year tutoring high schoolers in the LatinX community for math, science, and reading. Furthermore, I have always tutored my friends, family and acquaintances since high school. Throughout my years of experience I have tutored most math subjects, many sciences, and improved reading skills.
I have tutored students both in person and through virtual settings like zoom and google meet using virtual white boards to aid in teaching methods. Most of my time has been spent in one-on-one tutoring sessions, but I have also had fun in group tutoring sessions. For one-on-one sessions I find making a prioritized list of the students needs for tutoring is imperative to create a strategy best for their learning. Throughout high school, college, and MCAT preparation I have employed many different learning strategies and methods for test taking that I teach to my students in tutoring. Additionally, I find one of the most rewarding aspects of tutoring to be designing and sometimes creating new learning strategies specific to the student, teaching me better ways to communicate.
I mainly enjoy tutoring math and science, but I also have experience helping high school students in planning a path towards college or other career paths. I like to answer any of those kind of questions at the end of a tutoring session or by having a solely focused success session if that is desired. Materials and resources provided by the student or parents are always welcome in my sessions to ensure I provide the kind of environment that leads to success. I am easy to reach and excited to help.
