About Stephen

Bio

I love math and physics and I have a history of strong reviews from various sources about my ability to communicate each subject in an understandable way. The strongest aspects to my tutoring are my test prep and my homework prep. I like to focus my attention on both the how and the why when it comes to explaining homework problems, whereas most tutors tend to focus more on just the how. Once in a while, I even assign derivations to clients as bonus problems so that people understand why...

Once in a while, I even assign derivations to clients as bonus problems so that people understand why functions exist in the way that they do. Most notably, I like talking about inverse trigonometric functions, especially in how the derivatives of such functions came to be. Ask me about rocks in my spare time! I am also a casual American history buff.
AP US History Text: Henrietta
Calculus Text: Stewart
Physics Text: Knight, OpenStax, or Giancoli

My persistence is well-known among my clients. This tends to show in my ability to solve longer problems with multiple steps, which is rather common in more advanced math classes. I even once tutored a student for four hours in the middle of the night just to complete such a worksheet for a class.

I have a broad knowledge of the field, enough to cover all three of the administered AP exams for this subject (AP1, AP2, and APC) as well as the subjects of classical mechanics and second-level E&M at the college level. I also have a very deep grasp on calculus and trigonometry, which also greatly helps in actually solving the worst problems generally assigned in the subject.
