I am a middle school science teacher with classroom experience teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science in North Carolina. I hold a Bachelor's degree from Florida State University and am certified to teach middle school science and high school biology. My teaching experience has focused on helping students understand science concepts, interpret graphs and data, use academic vocabulary accurately, and explain their thinking through evidence-based writing. I work with middle school students daily, so I understand the common gaps students bring into science class, especially when they are asked to move beyond memorizing facts and actually apply concepts to new situations.

My tutoring approach is structured, patient, and practical. I begin by identifying what the student already understands, then I break the skill or concept into manageable steps. I use clear explanations, visuals, guided practice, and frequent check-ins to make sure the student is not just getting the right answer, but understanding why the answer makes sense. I have experience supporting students one-on-one, in small groups, and in full classroom settings, including students who need help with organization, confidence, reading science passages, graph interpretation, test preparation, and written responses.

I specialize in middle school science, including life science, Earth science, physical science, scientific reasoning, and science test prep. I am especially strong at helping students prepare for state-style science questions that require them to analyze diagrams, interpret data tables, compare models, and write claim-evidence-reasoning responses. My goal is for students to leave tutoring sessions with more confidence, clearer thinking, and specific strategies they can use independently in class and on assessments.

Approved Subjects

Biology

Biology

I teach middle school science in North Carolina, including Biology topics such as cells, body systems, ecosystems, heredity, evolution, microorganisms, and the structure and function of living things. I help students understand how biological systems work together rather than simply memorizing vocabulary. My lessons often use models, diagrams, readings, real-world examples, and data analysis to help students explain living systems clearly. I am especially strong at helping students interpret Biology diagrams, understand cause-and-effect relationships, and answer test-style questions using evidence-based reasoning.
Earth Science

Earth Science

I teach middle school science in North Carolina, including Earth Science topics such as Earth’s systems, weathering and erosion, the rock cycle, geologic time, fossils, natural resources, watersheds, and human impacts on Earth systems. I help students understand how Earth processes interact rather than simply memorizing vocabulary. My lessons often include models, diagrams, maps, data tables, and real-world scenarios so students can practice explaining evidence-based conclusions. I am especially strong at helping students interpret Earth Science graphs and diagrams and answer state-test-style questions with clear reasoning.
Ecology

Ecology

I teach middle school science in North Carolina, including Ecology topics such as ecosystems, food webs, energy flow, populations, habitats, adaptations, biodiversity, symbiotic relationships, and human impacts on the environment. I help students understand how organisms interact with each other and with their environment rather than simply memorizing vocabulary. My lessons often use diagrams, data tables, real-world scenarios, and cause-and-effect models to help students analyze ecological relationships. I am especially strong at helping students interpret food webs, explain changes in populations, and answer test-style Ecology questions using evidence-based reasoning.
Genetics

Genetics

I teach middle school science in North Carolina, including genetics topics such as heredity, inherited traits, DNA, genes, chromosomes, Punnett squares, variation, and the relationship between genetics and natural selection. I help students understand how traits are passed from parents to offspring instead of only memorizing terms. My lessons often use models, diagrams, family trait examples, and practice problems so students can connect vocabulary to real genetic patterns. I am especially strong at helping students interpret genetics diagrams, solve Punnett square problems, and explain inheritance using clear evidence-based reasoning.
Physical Science

Physical Science

I teach middle school science in North Carolina, including Physical Science topics such as matter, energy, forces and motion, waves, electricity, magnetism, and simple machines. I help students understand the cause-and-effect relationships behind physical systems rather than simply memorizing formulas or vocabulary. My lessons often use models, diagrams, data tables, calculations, and real-world examples so students can connect abstract concepts to observable patterns. I am especially strong at helping students interpret graphs, solve basic Physical Science problems, and explain scientific relationships using clear evidence-based reasoning.
