Hi, my name is Jennifer! I have six years of teaching experience as a high school Exceptional Children’s (Special Education) teacher with the majority of my teaching experience being in the inclusion and resource settings. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in History Social Studies Secondary Education and a current North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in the following areas: Exceptional Children: General Curriculum (K-12); Social Studies: History 9-12; Social Studies 6-9; and Elementary Education (K-6). I have completed numerous hours of professional development opportunities including the NC SIP Foundations of Math and Reading Research to Classroom Practice (RRtCP) courses. At my previous school, I received the Making A Difference Award for the month of January 2024 and I served on the school improvement team (SIT). I have previously served as a school board member for a K-8 Christian private school as well.
I was homeschooled from kindergarten through 8th grade before attending and graduating from public high school, community college, and university. I am a strong supporter of homeschooling and Christian education. In addition to my teaching experience, I enjoy volunteering for VBS each summer and I have experience working as a kindergarten teacher’s assistant, substitute teacher (elementary, middle school and high school), elementary reading teacher’s assistant / reading tutor, paralegal, and private academic tutor and music lesson teacher. I was honored to be a 2018 top twenty finalist in the 14th Annual Mountain Soul Vocal Competition in Sevierville, Tennessee.
I have experience working with a wide range of learners on multiple academic levels and in multiple subject areas. I have always had a desire to help others. I want to help students achieve their goals and be successful by providing individualized instruction and practice based on their individual strengths and needs.
