Hi! I’m a researcher, university professor, and speech-language pathologist with experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students. I help students understand challenging health science concepts, strengthen their academic writing, and develop study strategies that support lasting learning. I enjoy taking material that feels overwhelming and breaking it into clear, manageable pieces.
I hold a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences and a Master of Science degree. My academic and clinical background includes anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, and related health sciences. As a clinician, I help students connect foundational concepts to real-world applications. My specialized experience in cleft and craniofacial care provides additional expertise in head and neck anatomy, while my teaching experience includes anatomy and physiology across body systems.
I also support students with understanding research articles, refining research questions, navigating scholarly literature, organizing literature reviews, and strengthening academic writing. Through my experience conducting research and publishing peer-reviewed articles, I understand how challenging it can be to turn complex information into a clear explanation. I’m particularly interested in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in higher education and how we can better support student understanding and success.
My tutoring approach is supportive, patient, and tailored to your needs. We might work through diagrams and practice questions, unpack a research paper, organize a writing assignment, or examine your study routine to identify what could work better. I emphasize understanding, making connections, and practicing recall rather than relying on memorization alone.
You should feel comfortable asking questions even when you think you “should” already know the answer. Whether you’re building a foundation, preparing for an exam, or working through a research or writing project, I’d love to help you become a more confident, independent learner!
