Hi, I'm Jamari! I'm currently finishing my degree in civil engineering at UNC Charlotte, with a minor in mathematics, and I've applied to graduate school to continue in engineering. Math has been a constant throughout my life, not just as something I studied, but as something I've used and taught. Beyond my own coursework, I've worked as a math and curriculum consultant, conducting research and helping develop math programs and STEM curriculum for the UNC system, which gave me a deeper understanding of how students actually absorb material versus how it's traditionally presented to them.
I've taught in college-level classrooms and tutored students one-on-one, and through both experiences I learned that most students aren't struggling with the math itself; they're struggling with how it was explained to them the first time. My approach is to meet you where you are, rebuild whatever foundational pieces might be missing, and walk through concepts in a way that's simple and makes sense rather than something to memorize and forget. I stay patient, adjust my explanations on the fly based on how you're processing the material, and genuinely enjoy the moment a concept finally clicks.
I tutor Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus, ACT Math, and SAT Math, and I work well with middle school, high school, and early college students. Whether you're trying to catch up, stay ahead, or just build real confidence in math, my goal every session is for you to walk away actually understanding the material, not just finishing the homework in front of you. I'd be glad to work with you.
