Hello! My name is MacKenzie, and I am passionate about helping students learn ASL in a way that feels comfortable, practical, and encouraging. As a Deaf individual and fluent ASL user, ASL is my primary form of communication and a language that I use naturally in my everyday life. I have over five years of experience providing online ASL tutoring and teaching students with a variety of learning goals and experience levels. I also spent two years working as an English coach and tutor at Gallaudet University, where I supported students with their English skills and academic goals. My background has given me experience working one-on-one with students and adapting my teaching style to meet different learning needs.
My approach to tutoring is patient, supportive, and focused on real communication rather than simply memorizing vocabulary. I want students to feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and practicing ASL without feeling embarrassed or overwhelmed. Lessons can be tailored to your individual goals, whether you are completely new to ASL, want to improve your conversational skills, are learning ASL for work or school, or want to become more confident communicating with Deaf people. I believe that learning a visual language is an engaging experience, and I enjoy helping students build both their language skills and confidence. I would love the opportunity to work with you and help you reach your ASL goals!
