I am a graduate student at Appalachian State University pursuing my master’s degree, and I hold a bachelor’s degree with a strong academic background in mathematics. My academic training has strengthened my ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly, identify learning gaps, and adapt instruction to support different learning styles in a patient and encouraging way. Through my coursework, I have developed strong skills in breaking down complex ideas and helping students build conceptual understanding rather than relying on memorization.

I have experience teaching and tutoring elementary and secondary-aged students in both classroom and one-on-one settings. Through my student teaching experience, I have worked with students in grades 1–5, supporting math instruction in whole-group, small-group, and individual formats. I have helped students with foundational math skills such as number sense, operations, problem solving, and building confidence with challenging material. I have also supported students individually with homework help and skill reinforcement, adjusting my instruction to meet each student’s pace and needs.

My tutoring approach focuses on helping students understand the reasoning behind each step while creating a supportive learning environment where questions are encouraged. I use clear explanations, guided practice, and real-world examples to make math feel more approachable. My goal is to help students feel confident, capable, and successful by providing structured support that allows them to see progress over time.
