Hi, I am Anuj, and I am looking forward to helping you master Biology and Chemistry subjects! Whether you are preparing for finals or learning for fun, I am here to help you succeed.
Background: I received my B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Human Biology from North Carolina State University. I am a prospective medical student who is currently completing a Master's in Public Health from Columbia University. In addition to my 3.75 GPA for my B.S., I have also taken the Medical Entrance Exam (MCAT) and scored a 130 in the Biology and Biochemistry Section (96th percentile).
Experience: In total, I have roughly 5 years of tutoring experience. As an undergraduate student, I had the privilege of working as a TA and student tutor for an Introductory Biology course and an Endocrinology course. Additionally, I worked as a private tutor for college-level Chemistry after graduating (not with Wyzant). While in college, I received A's in all upper-level biology courses, including Anatomy/Physiology, Microbiology, Medical Microbiology, Biological Psychology, and Endocrinology. I am very comfortable tutoring all Biology subjects, and would love to assist in studying for class or exams.
My goal as a tutor is to help students gain a deeper understanding of the material and build their mastery of topics so that learning and success are fostered. My tutoring style prioritizes active recall and problem-solving. I will have students complete questions or activities after reviewing topics. After completing the questions, I will go through the questions, both correct and incorrect, with the student. I have found that this helps reinforce understanding and address any gaps in students' studying. I also try to have conversations with students to see what is working and what's not; I do this to keep my teaching structure flexible.
While I am dedicated to becoming a physician, I have a deep passion for supporting students at all levels by offering comprehensive, genuine assistance and support in their academic pursuits.
