My name is Alexandra. I am a former professor and formally trained writing tutor. In 2025-6, my students earned A grades, top results on AP exams & IB papers, and shortlists in prestigious competitions like the John Locke Essay Contest. Since 2018, virtually all my AP students have earned 4s or 5s, with the vast majority earning 5s. I have extensive experience teaching/tutoring Writing; Political Science [ONLY American Government/Public Policy & Political Theory]; American History (United States History); European History; American Literature; European Literature; Greek & Roman History/Mythology; and European Art History. I also offer academic editing for literature reviews, paper organization, etc.

For high school, I only tutor AP/IB, dual enrollment, or writing-intensive classes at rigorous schools that do not offer AP/IB. I work with students at many of the top feeders to Harvard, etc. I tutor AP US Government & Politics, AP US History (APUSH), AP European History, AP English Language, and AP English Literature.

A senior professor said he had never seen a teacher receive universal praise from students and professors like I did. My students inducted me as an honorary faculty member of a campus leadership group because of my exceptional teaching and mentoring. I am flexible, humorous, and approachable. American History

American History

As a professor, I taught multiple upper-level college seminars across the entire chronological scope of United States History. I have an extensive record of success tutoring students in AP US History (APUSH), with virtually all my reporting students earning at least a 4 and the majority receiving 5s. Additionally, I tutor IB History of the Americas, with my students earning 6s and 7s. I also have a demonstrated record of helping high schoolers meet the most rigorous expectations on class assignments. I work with students at the country's top private and magnet high schools/HYP-level feeders. At the college level, I regularly work with students at T20 institutions and they earn As with my guidance.

I have given professional talks and written multiple research papers examining the politics of medieval, Renaissance, and early modern European art and architecture. While I am comfortable helping students with the general history of Ancient Mediterranean and European art through WW1, my areas of specialization are Roman art, French Medieval art and architecture, and Medieval and Renaissance Italian art/architecture.

I am not a Classics language expert, but I have taught Plato and Aristotle; an entire course on Roman political thought (including reviews of history and literature); and wrote a chapter on Classical Rhetoric for my dissertation. I have also taught the great classical authors and classical mythology as part of Great Books survey courses.

If you are searching Literature tutor--I taught a number of important American novels (Great Gatsby, Invisible Man, etc.) in classes on American politics and history and have tutored in this subject for almost 10 years. I also took multiple classes on politics and literature in graduate school and have given multiple professional conference presentations in this subfield. The vast majority of my AP English Language (Lang) students and AP English Literature students have earned at least a 4 on their exams, with many of them earning 5s. My IB Lit/Lang students receive excellent classroom grades and 6s and 7s on their I/Os and similar IB assessments. If you are a Writing tutor--I have over a decade of experience working with writers at both the remedial and advanced level, both as a tutor and a college instructor. For my Ph.D. I studied the history of European political theory. This required me to learn general European history, European literary and art history, and history of European philosophy. My own research on the history of European architecture drew significantly on history/historiography scholarship, and I taught multiple seminars that were cross-listed as European History classes.

I have a Ph.D. in Political Science and taught Introduction to American Politics and Government multiple times. My background makes me a great choice for students in AP US Government exam. Approximately 95% of all my reporting AP Government students since 2018 have earned a 5 on their AP exam. I am conversant in Congress, Presidency, Supreme Court decisions, political parties, public opinion, political psychology, interest groups and lobbying, and public policy, among other subfields.
