Hi, there! I'm Kristine. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Educational Studies in Elementary Education from Western Governors University. As a child, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Over the years, I developed a love of math; I felt I could understand numbers more easily than words. Now, I take that love and help students in their math journey. I love to help students bring up their grades and, just maybe, learn to like math in the process. The great thing about math is a lot of times, a skill can be taught multiple ways. Part of what I enjoy is finding what method works best for my students so I can create a plan unique for them.
I began teaching and tutoring 15 years ago. My experience includes teaching elementary math all the way up to Algebra II. Currently, I teach 4th/5th grade. After school, I tutor students. Some of those I tutor need additional help or want more practice, while some are younger students whose parents want them to be advanced in math. The tutoring sessions vary, from providing homework help, test prep, or practice on strengthening specific skills. When those I tutor show me their grades, or I show them their grades, it makes me so happy to know I made a difference!
I find the tutoring process works best when I work closely with parents and the students, taking suggestions or finding resources together to target their specific needs. It's important that an "open door policy" exists between all those involved, and I want those I work with to always feel comfortable to me with any questions or concerns. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson!
