I am Marsha! I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Special Education. I am a highly effective teacher in reading, language arts and exceptional student education (ESE). I have been teaching for sixteen years and tutoring for ten years. I completely understand the frustration a student feels when that student has difficulty with reading comprehension and writing skills. Working one-on-one with students helps them stayed focused and learn in a more safe and relaxed atmosphere. In addition, there are many important strategies I use when tutoring to assist a student and bring them to a level of understanding for mastery. I go the extra mile to build a student's confidence, while making learning fun and a pleasant experience.
I am certified in the following areas: Exceptional Student Education, English grades 5-9, English for Speakers of Other Languages, Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum, Emotionally Handicapped and I have a Reading Endorsement. I have taught all levels of student ability which includes regular, advanced and intensive reading and writing. I have received English Language Arts Teacher of the Year, Golden Apple Teacher of Distinction and my classes have been won the "Achieve 3000 Read to Succeed National Contest Winner." It has been very rewarding to watch my students improve and achieve state test scores that puts them on the path to success. Reading and writing go hand -in- hand. If a student does not read well, their writing will reflect that as well. When I tutor a student, we work in all English language areas which includes grammar and vocabulary as well.
I desire to benefit my students in all areas of their education. I have tutored students in all content subjects including math, science and history.
