Hi, I'm Sara! I recently graduated from NC State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry. During my time in college, I largely enjoyed working as a teaching assistant for a freshman chemistry course as well as a mentor for a Women in STEM community. Both of these experiences have highlighted both my love for science and my field of study as well as my desire to help others. As a teaching assistant, I both was opened up again to the fundamentals of chemistry after now having used them and understand their nature better. In this position I taught a recitation course one a week in which I reviewed what was gone over in class, helped in explaining an concepts, and opened up time for questions on both homework and the course material.
I also was available for my 30 students through email and worked an hour in my university's tutorial center as a tutor as well as offered up extra chunks of my time for more optional test review and prep (you can only fit so much in 50 minutes). In the year afterwards that I worked as a mentor, I also voluntarily tutored and acted as homework help for many of my freshman mentees in both general chemistry and organic chemistry. I wholeheartedly want to help others with chemistry as I know it's one of those tough fields that for those that don't want to pursue it can become a hurdle and very frustrating. It's truly terrible to me how some difficult or bad teachers can make it such a hated field to some when they just need a different type of explanation. Especially on the university level, it isn't always explained well and sometimes you just need it translated or explained in a more everyday person style.
For the fields of Chemistry, I am fresh out of four years of working and learning deeply about the subject as well as having nearly a year of teaching/tutoring experience for general chemistry specifically. I have come to understand how the courses are structured and am confident and comfortable aiding in breaking down this "sampler platter of chemistry" to a way that
