Hi, I’m Missy. It has been my privilege to teach for over 31 years. I began my teaching career with a degree in Elementary Education (K-6) with a concentration in Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Reading was an area I noticed many students struggled with so I obtained a Master’s of Education degree in the area of Reading Instruction and Curriculum (K12-Adult Literacy) from Grand Canyon University. In addition to my college degrees, I also have certifications in Reading Specialty, Middle School Math (7-9), Academically Gifted and Talented, and Special Education.
During my teaching career, I have had the privilege to teach at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. At the elementary school level, I have taught grades 1-5, been a reading and a math specialist. At the high school level, I have taught science, business math, and record keeping. I have provided tutoring for several students over the years in pre-algebra and algebra. My last 8 years of teaching were in middle school. I taught 8th grade ELA for two years and spent six years working with students with academic and emotional disabilities.
I have a flexible schedule and look forward to helping students strengthen their skills in order to become more confident in themselves and their abilities.
