Gabriela H.

My name is Gabriela H and I’m originally from Lima, Peru. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Foreign Language Education in 2013, with a double major of Spanish and English As a Second Language (ESL).

After having worked as an ESL teacher for many years in my home country, in 2015 I started my career as an Online Spanish Teacher based in the US, teaching from beginners to advanced students from all over the world. I currently hold my teaching license in NC with three licensure areas: Spanish, ESL, and Special Education.
Thanks to all my years working with online students and more recently as a High School Spanish teacher, I have learned how to create a highly productive online learning environment and developed significant organizational skills to effectively maximize the time in the lesson in order to focus on fluency rather than tedious explicitly taught grammar. In addition, I have been able to develop my own learning resources, and created hundreds of activities that encourage my students to put the Spanish language into practice from the very beginning, in a way that is both meaningful and fun!

In total, I have 15 years of teaching experience. With a lot of hard work, a genuine care for my students' individual strengths and needs, and a lot of patience, I've helped all of my students become confident to speak in Spanish and both understand and value the cultural differences that also shape the way a message is conveyed in the target language.
