Bio

I have a Masters in Education with emphasis on Math. I have several years of experience in Math tutoring and over 20 years experience in the technical field of Engineering.
I am especially effective with students who have math anxiety or phobia. I use simple techniques to help them overcome it, so they can learn math with ease, and grow confident as a math student.

I also specialize in special needs tutoring, particularly ADD and ADHD. Patience and a positive attitude are very important attributes in tutoring. I have had great success working with students to raise their grades and self-confidence in Math.

There are times when I need to use concrete examples and work up to the abstract. And there are times when I need to explain the language of Mathematics. I assess the students' needs and will sometimes go over some basics if needed. I will do what is needed to help the student understand the material.

I also tutor for the ASVAB math. I was able to help a student raise his score very significantly in order to be accepted into the Army. His father and he were very pleased.

I worked for about 2 years at a tutoring center where we tutored students of all ages in Math. When needed, in particularly in Elementary school, we gave them exercises that start with basics and build on their skills. I continue to use that method for elementary students, in my private practice. I gear it towards their own personal abilities.

Special Needs

Special Needs

In 2015, I worked as a Personal Care Assistant in the schools, working one-on-one with special needs children, including the Autism Spectrum. I assisted the students in daily needs, helped to keep them focused on their task in class, and explained the lesson to them as needed. Duties also included helping them from class to class. In 2015, I also worked at a Brain Balance Center with children from the Autism Spectrum as a tutor in reading and math. I look forward to helping more students see that learning can be easy and fun and they can succeed.

Great Tutor

Jeanne B. is a great Tutor. She gets to know the student and zeros in on problem and find alternatives and solutions to help in the problem areas. My son was just diagnosed with ADHD and Jeanne is using methods and exercises to help him focus better. I am very pleased with Jeanne.

My son improves a lot on Math since learning with Jeanne

Jeanne has a good way to explain the math theory. My son is in Grade 4 and has difficulties on understanding his school math teacher's explanation most of time. But he understands Jean's explanation a way better. Ever since he started math lessons with Jean from the beginning of this year, he's getting more and more confidence on math. His improvement is obviously noticeable. We are so lucky for having Jeanne as our math tutor. Thank you so much, Jean!

Jeanne is a wonderful tutor and has been a blessing to us! She works with two of our three kids (6th and 9th grade). She is patient, knowledgeable and able to explain it to them where they understand it. Both are ADHD but they stay focused and get through the sessions with her without any problems. We have been in the middle of finals and she has been extremely flexible working with our daughter via whiteboard and phone on the never-ending study packet she needed to do to prepare. She has saved us several nights of tears. We highly recommend her to all. You will not be disappointed,

Jeanne taught my son, Tyler, triangle ratios, geometry proofs, congruent and similar triangles. She not only did a great job, she helped him on short notice and we had problems with our webcam so she helped him over the phone!
