I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in English and Secondary Education from Wake Forest University. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in English and Secondary Education from Wake Forest University. After graduating from Wake Forest, I conducted research abroad and taught second grade for many months in Ghana. Upon my return to the states, I began teaching 10th and 11th grade English for several years. The best part about teaching is to see students grow and begin to explore their own interests and ideas, critically analyzing and synthesizing materials in a mature and elevated manner.
While teaching, I also went to school at Appalachian State University and obtained my Master's degree in Higher Education Leadership. I graduated from ASU magna cum laude and have begun my career at Western Carolina University as an Academic Advisor and LC 101 Instructor. I am also beginning my doctorate this fall and am excited to see what these next chapters bring, and how I can better assist students as I continue my career in education.
I have taught English in the secondary setting for the past several years. I have tutored at the university level, high school level, and led an after-school program for elementary students.
