Bio

I have over 18 years of teaching experience working with students with special needs at the middle school, elementary and high school level. I have had the opportunity to work with students with disabilities including but not limited to ADHD, Autism, Specific Learning Disabled and students with Serious Emotional Disorders.

I have a passion for children of all ages and abilities. I believe that every student can learn and that success is individualized. I have a natural gift with children...

I am qualified to tutor in Elementary (K-6th) because I taught in elementary for over 2 years and I have taught 6th grade special education for 7 years. Being a special education teachers requires me to be knowledge in all areas. I currently teach 6th resource LA, Inclusion LA, Math and Fusion reading.
Phonics

Phonics

I am qualified to teach phonics because I have taught phonics for over 3 years. I have certifications from reading programs (Corrective Reading) that require phonics to teach reading. I am currently teaching a "Fusion Reading" class that uses phonics and decoding to help students learn how to break words down into smaller sounds or smaller words in order to pronounce them.
Special Needs

Special Needs

I am a Special Education Teacher. Most of my students are Specific Learning Disabled (SLD) in the area of reading. I also work with students that have Mild Intellectual Disabilities, Autistic and ADHD. I teach reading and math based on the individual need of the student. I use a variety of techniques and strategies to make sure that students learning style. I teach struggling readers to decode words and and blend sounds to make words. I also help students increase their oral reading fluency rate. Student who read at a slower rate usually also have difficulty with comprehending materials they have read. I also teach basic math skills. Most of my students are at least two grade levels behind and have an I.Q. between 65 and 85.
Volleyball

Volleyball

I can teach your child the basics in volleyball. I can give your child the one on one attention that she needs that she can not get from her coach. I also played volleyball in middle and high school and took and advanced volleyball class in college. Volleyball is one of my favorite sports, and I would love the opportunity to help your child meet their full potential.
