Hello! My name is Serena and I specialize in reading intervention. I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's degree in K-12 Literacy. I am currently working towards my Reading Specialist certification. This is my 6th year in the Education profession. I spent 4 years teaching in my own classroom (3rd and 1st grade), and have been tutoring for a little over 2 years. I specialize in reading intervention and primarily work with students with Dyslexia, because of this I have experience using the Orton-Gillingham method and phonics based instruction. I also work with students with ADHD and find that having ADHD myself helps me connect with them. I have worked with students from kindergarten to 8th grade, in both the classroom setting and one-on-one. I firmly believe that learning to read is a right that everyone deserves to enjoy and that it is my duty to help my students learn this priceless life skill.
