My name is Curt. Nice to meet you. I can help you in ESL, Mandarin Chinese, tenor saxophone and geography.

I moved to China in 2015. I worked as a foreign English teacher at an after-school program for a short time. About a month after I moved back to the states in the middle of January of 2016, one of my contacts on WeChat matched students in China with tutors in other countries like me. I have been tutoring Chinese students from the ages of 5 to 17 almost every weekend for almost 10 years now. I have a TEFL Certificate (120 hours). I can help you improve your pronunciation, vocabulary, conversational skills and confidence.

I started learning Chinese when I was 28 years old. One of my friends from the Christian Chinese church I was going to who was from Heilongjiang, Harbin (Northeastern China) taught me how to read, write and speak Mandarin Chinese at the same time. He taught me Pinyin. Which means that I had to learn the sounds that English doesn't have. I learned about speaking using tones. I also learned stroke order when it comes to writing Chinese characters. After learning the basics that he taught me, I studied on my own time. I can teach you the same thing my friend taught me. I could easily teach beginner Chinese, if you want to take what I teach you and study more in your free time like I did.

I started learning to play the tenor saxophone in the 6th grade in Amarillo, Texas. I played all the way through high school. I can teach you the basics of reading music, a little about music theory and the fingerings (technical term) of the saxophone.

I can also help you learn geography. I am good with things like that. It helps to have a photographic memory.

In summary, I don't have a college degree in any of the above subjects, but I can help you and give you the tools you need for you to be able to continue on your journey of learning new things for the rest of your life.
