My name is Madelyn, and I’ve been tutoring students in statistics, essay writing, and Spanish since 2022, when I tutored community college students both virtually and in person. I also briefly tutored high school students in precalculus and English in 2023. I currently tutor high schoolers in ACT and SAT prep. I graduated from high school in 2024 with two associate degrees (Associate in Arts and Associate in Science) and currently attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I study Nutrition, Health and Society in the Gillings School of Global Public Health. I scored a 33 on the ACT, was valedictorian of my high school class, and have made the Dean’s List for two out of the three semesters I have completed at UNC. I have tutored an estimated 50 students, from high school sophomores to adult learners.
I take pride in my ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely. My public health training and my experience working with students across age ranges and backgrounds have allowed me to develop skills in communicating ideas in a way that is appropriate to a variety of audiences. Through discussions and modeling, I help make challenging material easier to understand and apply. Over time, I have helped students achieve successes such as improving grades in community college courses and improving writing ability. I find it incredibly fulfilling to watch students leave me visibly relieved and more empowered to tackle subjects that previously challenged them.
