Thanks for checking out my profile! I'm Sam and I have been tutoring mathematics and physics courses for 7+ years. I graduated Magna Cum Laude (and in the top 5% of my class) from Appalachian State University, with a Bachelor's degree in Physics and a minor in Mathematics.
I began my tutoring career in the Appalachian State University Tutoring Center, where I tutored math up to Calculus 2, and physics up to college honors physics 2. Over my 4 years, I grew my répertoire of courses and became increasingly effective as a tutor and mentor. I took a hiatus from tutoring for about 3 years to pursue a career in Semi-Conductor Process Engineering, where I employed real-world applications of the principles I had been teaching.
Recently, I have been working as an online professional tutor for a boutique test prep company. During this time, I have tutored for thousands of hours and helped hundreds of students achieve their goals in their relative subject areas. I have helped many students score a 5 on their AP Calculus and AP physics exams and reach 99th percentile scores on both the SAT and ACT. In addition to achieving set goals, I have worked assiduously to build strong bonds with students and families; I hold an overall score of 9.5 out of 10 for customer satisfaction.
I am a strong believer in building solid foundations for students to build upon and grow. I strive to practice a patient, enthusiastic teaching style that enables a productive and engaging environment for students to strengthen foundations, and surpass expectations. My most rewarding experiences with students are those where I have helped students build confidence in themselves and their ability to achieve their goals independently. My students often describe me as personable, kind, and determined to help them succeed.
