I design lesson plans around the students current topics, and the students' own abilities to troubleshoot problem areas of understanding. I enjoy challenging students to think about history in terms of past and present contexts, and why history and social studies are important in today's world. History is not just about the past, or memorizing names and dates, it is about making connections between the past, present, and future.
I want students to benefit from lessons, but also enjoy them. I am always open to suggestions from both parents and students on how to better serve as a tutor, the learning process extends in both directions, and I enjoy learning just as much as I enjoy helping others learn.
