For six years, I taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade math and science at a middle school. I like do break complicated topics down to make it easier to understand. I relate it to real world situations and prior knowledge. In math, I find it beneficial to use the 'I do, We do, You do' method of teaching. While I was a teaching assistant, I also held tutoring for elementary reading and math small groups.
For 14 years I have been in the educational system in North Carolina. It is a great benefit to have taught 6-8 math and 6-8 science. I know what the student should know and what they are going to need to know. I am able to relate the curriculum vertically through the grades.
