Bio

I love teaching and believe all students can learn if given the correct tools. I have my Undergraduate Degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Lees-McRae College. I obtained my NC Early Childhood Certification from Forsyth Technical College and my Masters degree in K-6 Elementary Education from UNC-Charlotte. I am going on my 13 year teaching public education. I am currently a Special Education Teacher and have taught Special Education for over 10 years. I taught Regular Education for several years and in summer school.

I previously taught Social Emotional Life Skills Class and General Curriculum K-5th Grade. I taught K-6th Grade Special Education for 8 years. I have taught grades PreK-7th Grade. I am going on my 13th year teaching in public education. I am also obtaining my Meditation and Mindfulness Coaching Certification through Yoga Alliance along with my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training and Trauma Informed Yoga Certification.

Through my education I have studied a variety of disabilities and learning styles. I love to teach and want students to love learning. I have tutored privately and through the school system. I have taught homebound and general education as well. I love teaching Social Emotional Skills, ADHD management, Behavior, Math and Reading, Phonics, Reading Fluency, Comprehension, Study Skills, Test Prep and more.

I am a certified Special Education Teacher and have had training in dyslexia. I have been teaching for 12 plus years and 10 of those have been in Special Education. I work with many students with dyslexia and understand various strategies needed for students with this disability to succeed.

I just finished up my 12th year teaching. I have taught summer school grades 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I love teaching reading, math, writing, behavior, social emotional skills, and students with all ability levels. I have taught many students with ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Learning Disabilities in various subjects, visual impairments, behavior problems, organizational problems, and much more. Through my education I have studied a variety of disabilities and learning styles. I love to teach and want students to love learning. I have tutored privately and through the school system for over 14 years. I have taught homebound, special education, and general education as well. I want to ensure all lessons are student-centered and differentiated so that all students get the support they need.
