I have years of experience in instructing multiple grade levels (pre-K through college) in a variety of public and private schools including special and regular education as well as homeschoolers. Thanks to many years of instructing students with different needs (Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other learning disabilities), I see myself as a versatile teacher. I can bring in-depth knowledge of accommodating different styles of learners and incorporating effective methods to meet specific students’ needs based on each individual's strengths and area of improvement. As a tutor, my goal is to establish and maintain a nurturing and trustworthy relationship with each student as well as boosting their confidence in order to encourage self-motivation and a positive attitude towards learning. Also, I believe that teaching my students healthy work habits is crucial to improve academic performance.
In math, my goal is to teach a variety of strategies to solve problems making sure students understand the mathematical concepts.
In reading, I focus mainly on text comprehension, vocabulary enrichment, and grammar with a wide range of genres (fiction and nonfiction). There are multiple strategies to help a student comprehend a text, figure out the meaning of unfamiliar words, and understand the grammatical structure of the English language. Therefore, my work is focused on presenting those strategies, allow the students to explore them and decide which one(s) suits them best in order to see consistent improvement and meet some set expectations.
