Bio

I'm Garrett! I graduated summa cum laude with Disciplinary Honors in Philosophy from UNCG. In 2021, I was awarded a Provost Student Excellence Award, the highest undergraduate honor given at UNCG. The UNCG Philosophy Department also awarded me the first place prize in its annual essay contest in both 2020 and 2021.

I began tutoring in my senior year of college when I became the UNCG Philosophy Department's writing tutor. Since then, I've worked as a private tutor for four years, helping students in grade levels from middle school to the undergraduate level.

As a test prep tutor (for SAT, ACT, SSAT, and ISEE), I create personalized study plans for my students that are tailored to their individual strengths and weaknesses. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to learning, and I'm confident in my ability to help my students learn in a way that is beneficial to them and their unique situations.

I love to tutor because I've experienced firsthand the indelible effect that a good instructor can have on a person's life. I consider myself fortunate to have had teachers throughout my academic career who have made an effort to learn how I learn best. I believe I do the same for the students I work with. There’s nothing more rewarding to me than watching the lightbulb turn on in someone’s mind—that moment when everything *clicks.* That moment is the reason I do what I do, and I consider it my mission to help as many people reach it as I can.

Patient and Easy to Communicate

My paper needed substantial editing and feedback before it could be turned in. I was worried that I wouldn't finish in time.
