Hi, I’m Eugene. I help students make Statistics, Probability, and Business Calculus understandable by breaking difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps.

Hi, I’m Eugene. I help students make Statistics, Probability, and Business Calculus understandable by breaking difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps.

I hold a Master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Delaware and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Purdue University, and I previously taught statistics and calculus at the university level. I understand that these subjects can feel overwhelming, and my goal is not simply to get through the next assignment, but to help you understand the concepts well enough to approach new problems with confidence.

My approach is patient, structured, and concept-driven. I can help with topics such as probability, sampling distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, and other introductory and intermediate statistics topics. I’m happy to work through homework, prepare for exams, or provide ongoing support throughout your course.

I also have more than 25 years of professional experience as a senior analyst and SAS programmer. For students and professionals working with SAS, I can help with DATA step programming, PROC SQL, macros, and especially debugging—using the SAS log to identify errors and understand what SAS is doing step-by-step.

Whether you're struggling with a particular topic or looking for regular support throughout the semester, we'll work at a pace that helps you understand both how to solve a problem and why the method works.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

“I specialize in Algebra 1 and teach it in a clear, step-by-step way that helps students truly understand the concepts behind the procedures. My background includes university-level teaching at Purdue and the University of Delaware, and I’m very familiar with North Carolina’s Algebra 1 standards (NCSCOS), which emphasize conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and multiple strategies. Whether a student needs help with linear equations, functions, inequalities, polynomials, or factoring, I focus on making the ideas intuitive and building confidence along the way.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I tutor Algebra 2 with a clear, patient approach that helps students connect new concepts to the foundations they learned in Algebra 1. With university teaching experience at Purdue and the University of Delaware, I explain complex topics—functions, quadratic equations, polynomials, rational expressions, exponentials, logarithms, and systems—in a way that makes sense. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind each method, strengthen their algebra foundations, and develop problem-solving skills they can apply to unfamiliar problems. Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for an exam, or staying ahead throughout the course, my goal is to build both understanding and confidence.
Calculus

Calculus

I have taught calculus at the university level and help students understand the subject by breaking difficult ideas into clear, manageable steps. I work with limits, derivatives, applications of derivatives, and introductory integration, with an emphasis on understanding why the methods work rather than simply memorizing formulas. My approach is patient and structured. I help students identify where they are getting stuck, strengthen the underlying algebra and function skills when necessary, and develop a systematic way to approach calculus problems. Whether you need help understanding a particular topic, preparing for an exam, or staying on track throughout the course, my goal is to help you become more confident and independent with the material.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I help students understand precalculus concepts by breaking them down step-by-step and working through problems together. I cover topics such as functions, trigonometry, algebra, and graphing, with a focus on building a strong foundation. My goal is to make the material clear and manageable so students gain confidence and improve their problem-solving skills over time.
Probability

Probability

Probability can be challenging because knowing a formula is often much easier than knowing when and why to use it. I help students work through probability problems step-by-step so the reasoning becomes clear. I hold a Master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Delaware, where probability theory was a central part of my training, as well as a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Purdue University. I have also taught statistics at the university level. I can help with conditional probability, independence, random variables, discrete and continuous distributions, expected value, and related probability topics. Rather than simply memorizing formulas, we'll focus on understanding the logic behind them and developing a systematic way to approach new problems. My professional career as a senior analyst also involved applying probability and statistical reasoning to real-world data. Whether you're trying to understand a difficult topic, prepare for an exam, or want ongoing support throughout a course, my goal is to help you become a more confident problem solver.
SAS

SAS

I have over 25 years of professional experience using SAS, including DATA step programming, PROC SQL, macro development, data validation, and statistical analysis. I help students and professionals understand SAS by working through code step-by-step, whether you're building a program, debugging an error, or trying to understand unexpected output. One of my particular strengths is debugging SAS programs by reading the SAS log—identifying errors and warnings and explaining what SAS is actually doing so you can understand both the problem and the solution. In my work as a senior analyst, I designed, validated, and documented SAS programs for complex data projects. That experience allows me to connect programming techniques with the kinds of problems SAS users encounter in real-world work. My approach emphasizes clarity and structured problem-solving. Rather than simply fixing your code, I want you to understand why it failed, why the correction works, and how to recognize similar problems in the future.
Statistics

Statistics

Statistics can feel like a collection of formulas and rules until the underlying ideas start to make sense. I help students understand those ideas step-by-step so they know not only what method to use, but why they're using it. I hold a Master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Delaware and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Purdue University, and I have taught statistics at the undergraduate level. I work with topics including confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, regression, probability distributions, sampling distributions, and interpretation of results. We can work through problems together, review difficult concepts, prepare for exams, or build ongoing support throughout your course. My approach is patient, structured, and concept-driven. In my professional career as a senior analyst, I also applied statistical methods in real-world settings, which allows me to connect theory with practical applications. My goal is for you to leave a session understanding the reasoning behind the methods so you can approach new problems with greater confidence.
