Hi, I’m Eugene. I hold a Master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Delaware and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Purdue University, and I previously taught statistics and calculus at the university level.

I specialize in helping students with Statistics, Probability, and Business Calculus, with a focus on breaking concepts down step-by-step so they are clear and manageable. Many of the students I work with come in feeling overwhelmed, and my goal is to help them build confidence and truly understand the material.

I also have over 25 years of experience as a senior analyst and SAS programmer. I can help with DATA step programming, PROC SQL, macros, and especially debugging—reviewing SAS logs to identify errors and understand how SAS processes data step-by-step.

My approach is patient, structured, and concept-driven. I focus on helping students understand topics like probability, sampling distributions, and hypothesis testing so they can approach new problems with confidence. I’m happy to work through homework, review for exams, or provide ongoing support throughout the course.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

“I specialize in Algebra 1 and teach it in a clear, step-by-step way that helps students truly understand the concepts behind the procedures. My background includes university-level teaching at Purdue and the University of Delaware, and I’m very familiar with North Carolina’s Algebra 1 standards (NCSCOS), which emphasize conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and multiple strategies. Whether a student needs help with linear equations, functions, inequalities, polynomials, or factoring, I focus on making the ideas intuitive and building confidence along the way.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I tutor Algebra 2 with a clear, patient approach that helps students connect new concepts to the foundations they learned in Algebra 1. With university teaching experience at Purdue and the University of Delaware, I explain complex topics—functions, quadratic equations, polynomials, rational expressions, exponentials, logarithms, and systems—in a way that finally makes sense. I’m familiar with North Carolina’s Algebra 2 standards (NCSCOS) and focus on building confidence and strong problem-solving skills.
Calculus

Calculus

I help students understand calculus concepts by breaking topics down step-by-step and working through problems together. I cover key areas such as limits, derivatives, applications of derivatives, and introductory integration, with a focus on helping students see why the methods work, not just how to apply formulas. My approach is patient and structured, and I adjust explanations to match each student’s learning style. I help students build confidence, strengthen fundamentals, and prepare for exams so they can stay on track in their course.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I help students understand precalculus concepts by breaking them down step-by-step and working through problems together. I cover topics such as functions, trigonometry, algebra, and graphing, with a focus on building a strong foundation. My goal is to make the material clear and manageable so students gain confidence and improve their problem-solving skills over time.
Probability

Probability

I hold a Master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Delaware, where probability theory was a central part of my training. I have taught statistics at the university level and have extensive experience with topics such as conditional probability, random variables, distributions, and expectation. I help students understand probability by breaking concepts down step-by-step and working through problems together so the logic becomes clear. My goal is to help students move beyond memorizing formulas and build a strong understanding of how probability works. In my professional work as a senior analyst and SAS programmer, I applied probability-based reasoning to real-world data, which allows me to connect abstract ideas to practical applications. I work with students who want to strengthen their understanding, prepare for exams, and gain confidence in problem solving.
SAS

SAS

I have over 25 years of professional experience using SAS in academic and applied settings, including data step programming, PROC procedures, macro development, and statistical analysis. In my role as a senior analyst, I regularly designed, validated, and documented SAS programs for complex data projects. I am comfortable helping students and professionals with SAS fundamentals, statistical procedures, debugging code, and understanding output interpretation. My approach emphasizes clarity, structured problem-solving, and writing clean, efficient code that students can confidently adapt on their own.
Statistics

Statistics

I hold a Master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Delaware and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Purdue University, and I have taught statistics at the undergraduate level. I help students understand core statistical concepts by breaking them down step-by-step and working through problems together. I regularly work with topics such as confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, regression, probability distributions, and interpretation of results. My approach is structured and concept-driven, focusing on helping students understand the reasoning behind the methods so they can apply them with confidence on exams and in coursework. In my professional career as a senior analyst, I applied statistical methods in real-world settings, which allows me to connect theory to practical applications. I work with students who want to strengthen their understanding, improve their performance, and gain confidence in statistics.
