Rachel is a college instructor, lecturer, and independent researcher who has taught in a variety of higher-education settings, including state universities, technical colleges, and local community colleges throughout Central and Western North Carolina and the upper Piedmont of South Carolina. Rachel has a master of arts in sociology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and completed her undergraduate work at the University of South Carolina Upstate, where she earned both a B.A. in sociology and a B.S. in psychology. Rachel's research concentration is political sociology, social movements, and qualitative methods. She has received grants and presented original research at conferences through the U.S. and abroad, most recently presenting at the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics in Oxford, U.K. Rachel also volunteers as an academic tutor, maintains membership with multiple national honor societies and academic associations, and is certified by the NC Community College System as an online instructor of higher education. She has lived in Western North Carolina since 2004, and resides within the City of Hendersonville.
