I'm Aaron, and I'm your one-stop shop for expertise in various humanities fields and beyond. I hold a PhD from the University of St Andrews in Scotland, ThM and MDiv from Union Presbyterian Seminary, and BA from NC State University. I specialize in theology and ethics, and I also work in religion and science, analytic philosophy, and religion and popular culture.
Professionally, I conduct research through Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University, teach undergraduates at Brevard College, and work with folks of all ages through my congregational ministry at Lutheran Church of the Nativity near Asheville, NC. As the author or editor of several scholarly books, writer of 10 peer-reviewed journal articles, and presenter of 30+ papers to audiences across the US, UK, Canada, and Europe, I have an international reputation for academic excellence.
You can find my scholarly articles in publications like the Scottish Journal of Theology, International Journal for Philosophy of Religion, and Journal of Analytic Theology, among others, while my general audience writing appears in outlets like Earth & Altar Magazine and the Christian Century. Through all these efforts, I have proved myself as an skilled author, editor, and teacher time and again.
And now, I look forward to helping you hone your own skills and achieve excellence in your work too. If you need assistance developing, formatting, or proofing your writing, I’m here to help. If you want to advance your ability to read carefully, interpret charitably, or think logically, I’m your guy. If you want to become more confident as a speaker, debater, or any other sort of public communicator, I’ve got years of experience to bring to the table.
One of the things I love most about teaching and tutoring is helping students have “aha!” moments. I do this by cultivating highly dialogical environments in which we can pursue our common goal of learning. Both our voices matter when we’re striving for excellence together, so why not share yours with me now?
