Hello, I am Denys (students call me Dr. D)! I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Biophysics, after which I earned a PhD degree in Theoretical Biophysics. During my postdoctoral training at University of Alabama Birmingham and at North Carolina State University, I had the privilege to mentor undergraduate and high school students. This is when I realized that I am passionate about teaching and supporting students to achieve their academic goals. My teaching philosophy is to be engaging, comprehensive, efficient and to employ real life experience to make the learning process both meaningful and enjoyable. I am willing to go the extra mile when my students need help or clarification. I use lesson plans in which first I introduce the topic in a creative way, then I teach the material. I am flexible in my approach to teaching and tutoring and make adjustments to the method to best fit the student’s individual needs.

During my 10+ years career as an educator, I had the opportunity of teaching and tutoring college and high school Geometry, Physics and Chemistry, SAT and ACT Math and Linux OS. I worked directly with students who needed assistance, but also in small group sessions. I addition, I offered tutoring sessions every day after school, where the students could come for homework help in Algebra, Geometry, Physics and Chemistry.
