Hi! I'm Dr. Bunmi, a chemist with a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Ibadan. I tutor chemistry for middle school and high school students, including honors and AP Chemistry, as well as math and science for students in grades 1 through 5.
Teaching and training are a big part of my professional life. As a Research Scientist at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (UNC Greensboro), I train about 30 students and researchers each year, one on one and in small groups, and I supervise university students on their projects. Before that, I spent nearly a decade as a research scientist and section head at a national research institute, where I led and mentored a team of staff, and I completed a Humboldt postdoctoral fellowship in Germany. Across all of this, my job has been to take complex science and make it clear, practical, and doable for people at very different starting points.
I bring that same approach to tutoring. I start by finding exactly where a student is getting stuck, then build up from there with clear explanations, worked examples, and plenty of practice. With chemistry students, I focus on real understanding, the "why" behind the formulas and reactions, so they can handle any test question instead of just memorizing steps. With younger learners, I keep lessons patient, encouraging, and interactive so they build confidence along with skills.
In our first lesson, we'll talk about your goals, then work through a few problems together so I can see how you think. You'll leave with a clear plan, and I'm happy to work from your class notes, homework, or upcoming tests.
I can help with homework, test and exam preparation, catching up after falling behind, or getting ahead. All of my sessions are online and one on one, with flexible scheduling. Message me with your grade and course. I look forward to helping your student succeed!
