I am a Professor of Chemistry with a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Oklahoma State University. I have been teaching chemistry since 2007, giving me more than 19 years of experience working with students. My teaching experience has primarily been in university classroom and laboratory settings, where I have taught and mentored undergraduate and graduate students, generally ranging from approximately 18 to 30 years old. My work as an educator and mentor has also been recognized through teaching and mentoring awards.
I have taught students with diverse levels of preparation and learning needs, from students taking introductory chemistry courses to students pursuing advanced chemistry and research. I specialize in general chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis, biochemistry, and laboratory methods. I also have extensive experience mentoring students with research projects, scientific writing, laboratory reports, presentations, and thesis preparation.
My teaching approach is student-centered and focused on understanding rather than memorization. I break complex concepts into clear, manageable steps, work through problems with students, and adjust my explanations based on their individual needs and level of understanding. My goal is not simply to help students complete an assignment or prepare for an exam, but to help them develop the knowledge, problem-solving skills, and confidence to work independently.
